Smaller than I expected. I almost went medium because that's the size I wear normally, but took a chance on large because I didn't want them to be too short. Even the large still comes in quite a bit above my knees. Comfy and lightweight though, as advertised.Also, note that these don't have pockets. Keep that in mind if it's something you look for in athletic shorts
